He also said that it might be hard to get a mobile phone in Japan if you don't have an address in Japan. It might be best just to ask host family to get you one or as a guarantor?

Well they said that japanee people love neatly wrapped gifts most of all. So make sure even the jam has a bow on it! I mentioned Max Brenner's with michelle too today since it has some really nice gift boxes for chocolate that will look impressive. But then again, I'm sure they'll be happy with anything you bring.
